This Is Not a Government Office or Records Custodian. San Diego Residents Directory is a private reference. It cannot retrieve records, certify copies, confirm who lives at an address, or change a roll. Those requests belong with the office that holds the record. For emergencies, call 911. If you believe you are being stalked or harassed, contact local police.

Looking for a Specific San Diego Record?

The quickest route depends on the record type and the question:

  • Who owns or appears along a street: use the San Diego street directory address workflow
  • Old volumes and past households: use the San Diego Directory Book collections
  • One person or same-name question: use the San Diego resident lookup workflow
  • ZIP geography or block context: use ZIP Codes or the Neighbors page
  • Records not online: make a focused request under the California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 and following, to the relevant custodian

For a public-records office contact, use the San Diego County Archives when an older county deed, index, map, or historical series is involved:

The Archives also lists archives@sdcounty.ca.gov. For city-created records, use the City Clerk records channel; for court files, use the filing division of the San Diego Superior Court; for vital certificates, use the County or California Department of Public Health route. The office named on the relevant page can explain eligibility, fees, copies, and current hours.
